Our generation is constantly being told that we are too sensitive and that we should get thicker skin but I don’t think it is so much we’re more sensitive or that this is even a bad thing if we are.
We’ve all seen the memes, heard everyone complain about millennial’s being obsessed with gadgets and becoming more detached to the world around them and we all know Jeremy Kyle’s big problem with gadgets, social media and what they do to relationships etc…
Does the rise in usage of gadgetry really mean we’re losing our emotions?
The playground at the end of our road has been a cornerstone for young people since before most of the people living in this area were even born. Generations of young people came to these grounds, scraped their knees and became better people. The heartbreaks, the triumphs, the loneliness and the good times.
Now due to the fact that children outside seems like a scary prospect the park will be demolished and instead a shop will be built there.
Without the local park, the place we all went to meet up and ended up staying out too late whilst sitting on the swings talking about life, our young years would have been so much more hollow then they were.
Dear park. If only we remembered what it was like to be young, to walk past you and throw a hissy fit because we wanted to go in. You were our first love, yet when you truly needed us we weren’t there to save you.
From all the children who grew up in your loving, playful square… Thanks for the memories.
