Most people will know what this means.

At some point in your life there is probably a book or game series that you love that got the big screen or smaller screen treatment. You ignore that gut feeling that it won’t be what you expect and end up leaving pretty disappointed.

Some of them work. They might not be the best but they don’t suck either, some are magnificent in their own way so that the cut content and usually added new content doesn’t bother you and others…

Others suck balls.

I find myself in a funny position where I, a Discworld fan, have finally found the one thing that I cannot help but be upset with.

Being told that it is INSPIRED by the books and not BASED on them isn’t helping either!

Sir Terry Pratchett 28 April 1948 – 12 March 2015

I can’t even tell you how heartbreaking this news is. The death of my hero, it isn’t even one of my heroes. I started reading the Discworld novels when I was probably too young to be reading them and I’ve got every single one of them happily stored in my bedroom and read them regularly.

Terry Pratchett didn’t just write stories he created worlds with characters so real they became part of his fans lives.

I only ever met him once but he was such a kind man and always looked happy. My sympathies are with his family.

A little bit of magic has died with him.

Rest in Peace Terry, you will be thoroughly missed Sir.

So when Christmas rolls around there is only ever one book (and TV movie) I want to read (watch).

The Hogfather…
