Kong : Skull Island (2017)

Rating : 1*

I am a huge fan of King Kong and a even bigger fan of King Kong’s 2005 re-make starring Adrien Brody, Jack Black and Naomi Watts. To hear a new movie with Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman and John C. Reilly was coming out I was extremely excited to see a new chapter in the story of Kong.

Did the film live up to its predecessors?

Austin Powers : Goldmember (2002)

Rating : *

The third and so far last of the adventures of Austin Powers meets even newer threats along with the same old same old threats and a lot of 60s flair.

A new evil base, a new evil plan and a new adventure for Austin and his new partner.

I didn’t feel the second film matched up to the first but can the third save the series?

Halloween Resurrection (2002)

Rating :

The final Halloween of the original run of movies was brought out in 2002.

It carried on where H20 left off and devised a whole new way to terrorize youngsters with the iconic Michael Myers returning once more when we thought we’d finally seen the back of him.

Jamie Lee Curtis returned to reprise her role of Laurie Strode but the film was mainly hit with negative reviews.

As this ended up being the goodbye to Myers did it do the series justice?

Halloween H20 (1998)

Rating :

After a strange outing for Michael and the death of Jamie Lloyd Halloween went back to basics with H20 and brought back the original Myers relative, Laurie. Played once more by Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween H20 (or 20 years later) did its best to forget what had just came before it, wrote back in the dead Laurie and try to piece together a movie that would be much more popular then its last couple outings.

Only the second film without Doctor Loomis in it after Pleasance’s death in ’95 (he wasn’t in Halloween 3 before this) it is safe to say Halloween H20 had a lot to live up to.

Friday the 13th : Jason Lives (1986)

Rating :

Jason was back in 1986 and yes this time we meant Jason. After the failure of The Final Chapter it was decided that in Jason Lives they’d actually bring back Jason Voorhees himself.

The sixth instalment of the Friday the 13th series is the first one since the first one to actually get good reviews and it made me very happy to find out that I’m the one that gets to review it.

The Sixth Friday the 13th film but only the 4th to star the iconic monster Jason.

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)

Rating :

Five year after Mrs Voorhees went on a murdering spree in Camp Crystal Lake another bunch of counsellors show up at a camp down the road to set up… Well… Camp.

In 1981 Friday 13th returned a year after its original outing. Part 2 actually introduced us to Jason Voorhees for the first time replacing his mother as the monster of the piece killing unexpecting teenagers.

With a change of director and writer Friday the 13th lived on with Jason running wild.

Jurassic World (2015)

Rating :

Jurassic Park was one of the first films I ever saw, I was tiny when it came out but I loved it from the moment my mum put it on. I’ve been obsessed with dinosaurs since before I could walk or talk and that ain’t going to change any time soon. One of my first crushes was on Ian Malcolm, I had a full set of the toys with dinosaurs that made stamping sounds when you hit their feet and growled to the actual Jurassic Park cars and the dude who died on the toilet.

Easy to say that the original movie was the movie of my childhood and it went on to spawn two sequels (Lost World and Jurassic Park 3) that would define the rest of my childhood and teenage years.

Yes I thought I’d tell you this because Jurassic World could be the movie that defines my adult life.
