Fire Force : Wearing His Pride

Episode 20

Hokori wo Matotte” (誇りを纏って)

The Evangelists are out for blood and they’ve managed to split everyone up. As Maki, Tamaki and Iris all survived their attacks last week it is up to the others to bring down even more of the White Clad that are terrorising them and the people on the surface.

I do like how they just went full on into showing every single individual fight.

Shinra’s was over pretty fast and his part in the episode wasn’t all that important. He’s now paired up with Victor which obviously comes with its own concerns seeing that we don’t really know what it is that Victor is up to yet but until we see more of their story there is little more to add to what we already think about Victor and Joker.

This episode had one of the most amazing battles though as Arrow finally met Hinawa.

So out of all the fights that could be happening in this series Arrow and Hinawa probably aren’t the most interesting. They both use long ranged attacks and neither actually get all that close to the other but that means nothing.

It was so cool and Hinawa actually had a difficult time beating Arrow on pure strength and just had to go all out with being the smart ass that he is. It was actually really sad seeing him nearly just give up but remembering his place in the 8th and knowing that he has to keep pushing for the sake of the others in his Company.

You might have noticed that Hinawa and Maki are my two favourites because they are so bad ass but seeing Hinawa actually struggle and have to work out his own worth in his head was super cool.

He’s now paired with Arthur as we see what Beni actually taught him and saw him finally take down Mirage which was a pretty decent little scene. Hinawa has lost his glasses so can’t really see whilst Arthur is kind of useless with directions so where they will end up is anyone’s guess but I’m guessing they’ll end up with the girls who all met up in this episode.

We ended with Giovanni and Lisa coming face to face with Obi and Vulcan.

I very much believe that Lisa will end up turning on Giovanni and joining the 8th or at least leaving the Evangelists. I just get this feeling that she actually does care for Vulcan as it turns out that Giovanni kind of raised her. Seeing the way Giovanni is and the family she created with Vulcan I’m pretty sure her story is going to be one of forgiveness.

What I really loved about it though is that Vulcan just loves her.

I personally wanted to cry when he basically greeted her like nothing happened, he doesn’t get angry or sad and he honestly tells her he came down here to see her which I think is true. He wants to help the 8th but I think he also knew he had to come for her sake and it was one of the nicest things I’ve seen. Vulcan for all his grumpiness at times is the biggest softy in the series and when he bonds with people or has a purpose he has the biggest heart and puts it all into whatever he’s doing.

This fight might be super cool because Obi is a bad ass, Vulcan has super cool gadgets and I’m sure that Giovanni and Lisa have a bunch of things up their sleeves but I honestly think that we’ll see Lisa join the other side.

Really love this episode.

Did you think that Arthur had made a mistake by slashing just above Takehisa’s head? Because I did. Oh me of little faith…

That tank battle between Takehisa and Arrow was one of my favorite things ever. It felt just like a major naval engagement. The power they unleashed even scared Yona away!

I should probably take umbrage at Iris and Tamaki being so scared, but seeing Maki give them a reassuring hug made my week that much warmer.

“He wants to help the 8th but I think he also knew he had to come for her sake and it was one of the nicest things I’ve seen. ”

I think you’re right! He just honestly and quietly laid it out for her. Compare Lisa’s expressions as she reacted to Vulcan’s compliments and Giovanni’s threats. She’s cowed for now, but Vulcan showed her what it’s like to have someone care for her as just herself.

    This is great dramatic stuff!

And I’m surprised to find that I’m going to miss Arrow.

You can probably tell I’m still on a high from watching this episode…

Glad you’re still reviewing and enjoying the series!
