The Rising of the Shield Hero : The Rising of the Shield Hero [END]

Episode 25

Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari” (盾の勇者の成り上がり)

So this is it, the end of the first season of The Rising of the Shield Hero. I very much doubt that whatever happens in this episode is going to be the final thing but it should be fun to see what happens between Glass and Naofumi.

I mean it is what it is.

The fight with Glass felt a little on the rushed side, it ended way too fast and didn’t really have a decent ending to it. As I said it is what it is, they couldn’t really do much more as Glass was convinced the only way forward is for one of them to die and to stop that being what happened they had to have the fight reach the time limit one way or the other.

So those guys will be back in a future series if we get one.

After that it was just feel good nonsense really.

Naofumi finally took his reward from the Queen which basically saw him take over the area that Raphtalia grew up in and build it back up to make it his base, the other heroes are off doing what they have to do and life just rolls on for everyone.

Then it just ended.

In a way I guess that was the perfect ending for the show because more often then not things just happened and then didn’t matter anymore. Whilst I think a lot of the questions they raised were answered slowly and sometimes in ridiculous places the show was very patchy on its own story and went from a 0 to 100 way too fast most of the time. So having a finale that did pretty much all that just in one episode kind of is fitting for it really.

What else is there to say?

Once again the best bits were rushed, the “romance” bit felt forced as hell and weird when remembering that Raphtalia is still technically a child no matter how much you tell me Demi-Humans age differently and everything else was slow and just kind of there to fill time which is a shame because I was hoping for a big episode to end the season the right way but it just kind of became the perfect example of what the series was from start to end.

That being said I wouldn’t be upset to see more of it in the future.
