Week 6 Question : What is Intelligence

Well I love getting easy questions so yes. What is Intelligence?

The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.

It really is that easy.

People act like you can’t be dumb and intelligent at the same time but you can. A lack of knowledge in one area doesn’t mean you can’t have a abundance of knowledge in another. Someone who can build a engine might not be able to name all the monarchs of England but that doesn’t make him unintelligent it just means his intelligence is somewhere else.

Look at those idiot kids eating washing up pods at the moment. Some of them probably have been to university or might be straight A students. They are intelligent but lack common sense. They still have intelligence. The two don’t have to go hand-in-hand with each other they are two different things. Look at all the geniuses who do eccentric things, you wouldn’t say they are unintelligent just eccentric.

I lack any real academic intelligence and I also lack common sense but I can fix most electrical problems which takes intelligence when it comes to electrical things. One of us on here knows a whole bunch about history and literature but can’t fix anything when it breaks. They aren’t unintelligent because they can’t fix a problem with their computer or washing machine.

Its one of those words that I think is real simple but people use it as a catch all for a bunch of different yet similar things.

Though it does have the second meaning of…

the collection of information of military or political value.

So yeah. There is that as well.
