The Cartoons You Grew up With….

After a very unproductive Skype chat to see where we are and what we’re doing we all got down to talking about our favourite cartoons growing up. From Cow and Chicken to Dexters Laboratory it was a fun time of basically throwing random quotes half remembered at each other and winding up Rick who has had enough of children’s cartoons for one lifetime.

It then got us thinking that there were so many that when one of us threw a name at the other it stopped us from necessarily remembering all of them. You get so worked up about talking about this one that came on after that one that other gems got lost.

So we decided to ask you, the people that read this blog as well as family and friends what cartoons you grew up with. We’ll be sharing it around on our social media pages… Or I shall share it on mine as I’m about the only one who has them, and we’ll come back with a list of some of the best cartoon series a kid could possibly grow up with.

So please feel free to send us all your favourite memories of your favourite cartoons. It doesn’t matter where in the world you come from or how old or young you may be. Let us know!

  1. Probably watched a lot of the same stuff as you did but Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends and Billy and Mandy were two that came on when I was in my late teens that I liked. I know Anna will have mentioned the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon as she’s posted on Tumblr her two figures based on the cartoon. Batman the Animated Series was good too as a kid as was obviously the XMen animated series and the Spider-Man one.

    1. TMNT, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Biker Mice from Mars, Transformers, Moana the Vampire, DBZ, Ed, Edd & Eddie….. So many good ones. Gargoyles as well, that was a great show.

  2. Rugrats and Wild Thornberries which I only remembered because I was flicking through Netflix and they have one of the Thornberries films and Rugrats in Paris on there. Doug was another good one, only ever remember Doug because Anna claims Quailman as one of her top 10 superheroes all the time.

    1. Rugrats was awesome! Remember the Rugrats game on the N64, the board game one? I loved it! Need to find it and plug the old N64 in at some point. Doug is a great one too, had one of the best openings too. Was always excited to watch Doug.

  3. We watched a lot of the ones listed here but another is Darkwing Duck. We’ve been re-watching it lately and while it doesn’t always hold up as an adult, we’ve have fond memories of it.

    1. Sorry it took so long to reply! Darkwing Duck was awesome. I’ve found the same about a few things I’ve re-watched as a adult and its the memories more then anything else that really makes it special. Just looked at your blog and its awesome! Love Are You Afraid of the Dark and your posts about it bring back great memories!
