“Tokubetsu Sakusen-han -Hangeki Zen’ya (2)-“(特別作戦班 ―反撃前夜②―)
Eren has taken a strange route to his dream of being a Scout but now he is there under the watchful eye of Levi. Before they can do anything though they have to prove his worth.
Like the other recruits I just adored the actual group of Scouts in general. They were so funny, with so many personalities all mixed in together it made such a dynamic group. It is kind of a shame that we’ve got the Elite squad of Scouts, I do miss Jean and the others already. Then again it might not be too long before we see them again.
This episode though we get to spend lots of time with Hange who is very much a fun character to spend time with. She’s tasked with experimenting on the two Titans that they captured and plan on having Eren help her. She’s a proper nut but mainly she just wants to find out what is going on. I liked her, she’s quite funny but also really interesting to listen to, the others don’t seem too happy to listen to her, specially when she was naming the Titans and told them the story of cannibals, but I thought she was real interesting.
She is the only person that seems to have sympathy for Titans, it hurts her to hurt them.
Its interesting seeing that Eren listens to her too, up until this point he doesn’t really take in other peoples ideas but she seems to understand that just fighting them out of fear isn’t work. They know nothing about the Titans and you need to find out something about them, the small amounts of things that they know don’t add up to anything much but it is important that they know it. She seems to be the one that found out about the weak spot at the back of the neck. She honestly talked all through the night but unfortunately in the morning found out that both Titans had been killed by a solider.
I like how the Scouts are all batshit crazy.
The Scouts seem to be the only ones that truly see what is going on though and it’ll be fun to see them piecing it altogether as they go on. They are the best bunch of characters because whilst being light hearted they see the world as it is. They’ve seen the horrors the Titans bring to the world and yet still are the way they are. Think about Hange and all she’s seen yet she still cries when she has to hurt a Titan. It shows that humanity isn’t as bad as they hold themselves out to be. Of course there are a lot of people who would rather kill half the population then get hurt themselves and its true that the Titans won’t be the reason humanity goes extinct but humanity itself. The fact some humans can be sympathetic to a Titan proves that there are still people out there that feel empathy and realise that whilst the Titans are the top of the food chain and mindlessly eat humans for no reason they do it on instinct.
Whilst the pain humans inflict isn’t needed and isn’t on instinct. They just cause harm. Who are the real monsters?!
