Probably the wrestling show I go on about the most, I go see them at every opportunity though for a little while at the beginning of the year those opportunities might be slimmer then they have been recently. A great promotion ran by some very decent people who have big plans for 2017 and have already given fans over the Christmas period new merchandise and a OnDemand service.

PRIDE 2016 IN REVIEW
14 shows I went to this year, from Taunton all the way down to Penzance and back up again. We met superstars such as Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Grado and Adam Rose, we were wowed by the amazing battles between Big Grizzly and Eddie Ryan, the Magnums and House of Bones and of course Ultimo Tiger vs anyone who would fight him. No trip was too far, too expensive or too annoying to get to a show and even when we were disappointed personally Pride never let us down.
These guys have worked their asses off this year to bring professional wrestling all over the West-Country. They brought their circus to any town that would have them and it seems that everyone who brought a ticket, or at least 99.99% of people who brought tickets left every show very happy indeed.
By the end of 2016 the whole show felt a lot different to what I could remember of the beginning of 2016 but any changes were for the best and brings them into what will be a amazing 2017.
Its very hard to look at so many matches, so many wrestlers and so many brilliant moments and just pick one that stands out above them all.

PRIDE MOMENT OF THE YEAR
Its a tough one to call. Two moments that I loved were EDDIE RYAN winning the Heavyweight Championship and then of course at the end of the year ULTIMO TIGER winning the Championship. Both of them had outstanding matches to get to the title and Eddie Ryan was a absolute amazing champion for the latter part of the year. Tiger is no doubt going to be a alright champion in his own unique Tigerish way I’m sure.
I also have to say that meeting TOMMY DREAMER was probably the highlight of my life so far as I’ve been in love with that guy since I was a kid.
PRIDE CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
Gonna be honest and say of course it was SCOTTY ESSEX/WAINWRIGHT. The guy was just the best with the Catch Division trophy during the majority of the year, its sad that he has now left Pride but also nice to see him doing so well in other places. He had some great matches against Tiger, Robbie E and of course his match against RVD in Taunton. It feels like a lifetime ago that I saw him last but he is my champion of 2016.
PRIDE SHOW OF THE YEAR
Easily TEIGNMOUTH. Ignore anything else I said this year. Every show has been better then the last (with the exception of their Return to Penzance show which had nothing to do with them) but Teignmouth was without a doubt my absolute favourite. Small venue, extremely loud crowd, some of the best matches of the year, Eddie Ryan dressed up as a Magnum, great company and then Bram vs Ultimo Tiger which went out into the car park. If anything it was made even better by getting stuck in a taxi office with Johnny Kidd telling us everything he knows about wrestling, what a bloody moment that was. It was also my birthday weekend and after having to leave a Chaos show early on the Saturday it was just nice to relax and enjoy the entire show with good company. Really was the best show.
PRIDE WRESTLER OF THE YEAR
I could name a whole bunch but it has to be ULTIMO TIGER. Like I made him number 1 in my end of year wrestler blog I can hardly then call someone else the Pride wrestler of the year can I? Starting the year off with some defeats but always looking strong coming out of them, finishing the year with the heavyweight belt after surviving another No DQ match with Bram, the guy has proved time and again why he’s the hidden gem of British Wrestling and why we’re all so very lucky to be able to see him at every Pride show. Plus he’s also always awesome with his fans which makes his fans slightly biased because who couldn’t love such a genuinely humble and nice guy?
(So being biased if you want to know the second guy I’d say it would probably be KELLY SIXX who I first saw at Pride and who has grown to be a spectacular talent who everyone is talking about at the moment.)
Its been a crazy year with great memories which I have to thank Pride for. I will never forget the amount of time Raven spent with my niece to get her to calm down and have a photo with him when he came to Plymouth and obviously every crazy moment at the other 13 shows has been amazing to be part of. Sometimes they get some slack for whatever reason but I honestly just love their shows and couldn’t recommend them enough. It isn’t too long now till I get to go see them again which I’m looking forward too and the only reason money is being saved for driving lessons is so that hopefully by the end of the year I’ll be able to go to any and every show as I will hopefully be able to drive to them.
Have a feeling 2017 is going to be different but just as crazy. Can’t wait to see what they do this year.
