Sono Ichi: Kanojo ni Mukanai Shokugyou / Sono Ni: Uchouten Tanteisha (其の一 彼女に向かない職業 其の二 有頂天探偵社)
Atsushi gets to take Kyouka home to the agency. His life never seems to be lacking in drama.
WARNING : I am going to start reviewing the Manga too. So if you don’t read the Manga obviously check that it says Episode and not Chapter (though like anything else it’ll have its own featured image so you should be able to tell!)
Not that I ever thought it was going to be any different but this week Kyouka officially becomes part of the family. I still don’t like her much and she doesn’t really have a part in the episode as such so that opinion never changes but it was funny watching the agency go crazy over her. Of course the cutest moment was when Rampo came running in with sweets for her but then eats them anyway.
The episode showed off Kenji for the first time. I had no idea what to expect from him really, he seemed cheerful and it was obvious he was strong by being able to throw the Mafia guys out the window like they weighed nothing but he actually is a really endearing character.
He comes from a small village so city life is challenging for him. His power is only able to be activated when he’s hungry and he basically gains super strength but the charm of Kenji lies in his simplistic nature.
He believes if he’s open and honest with others they’d be open and honest with him. So in a big city he’s made friends with everyone and this obviously helps him in his endeavours as he can get gossip off of the right people to point him in the direction he needs to go in. In this episode it means that the bombing of a car incident leads them to a youth gang who flat out deny being part of it, in the shadiest way ever, just to attack Kenji and Atsushi later on.
I really loved Kenji, I don’t even know why.
There isn’t really anything strange about him or over the top. With Dazai I loved him because he was so cheerful whilst being so morbid and there is, even now knowing he used to work for the Mafia, a air of mystery surrounding him. Kunikida having his hissy fits and his stubbornness makes him strangely endearing and then there are characters like Rampo who I just want to cuddle to pieces.
Then you have Kenji who is lovely but so simple that there is just nothing to him. He’s honest and open but ultimately boring but I found myself in the same predicament as the characters in the anime. No matter how bland or boring his character is on paper when faced with that smile and innocence you just find yourself loving him.
Not much really happened in the episode really other then Kyouka being accepted by everyone (was there really any question of her being accepted?) and getting to know Kenji a little more.
Somehow though I was having the time of my life!
There is a really short but really funny (or at least I found it funny) scene after the credits so don’t miss that! Loved how Dazai is now just locked up in his room chilling before he bothers to tell the others that he has escaped being locked up by the Mafia!
