“Majo e no hōmon-sha” (魔女への訪問者)
Complete apologises for not catching up with this earlier. Flying Witch charmed me from the very beginning and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Makoto!
There is so much to love in this episode.
Makoto and Chinatsu have such a endearing little relationship blooming. I loved Chinatsu’s reaction to meeting the Harbinger of Spring, I thought he looked cool but to a little kid I guess he was kind of scary. I was a little upset that he came and kind of went right away too, I wanted to learn more about him. Hopefully another Harbinger will show up and we’ll get to learn a little more of them.
Makoto then has a strange dream about Nao, when she explains to Nao that Witches dreams can be prophetic (or is that just a myth?) Nao believes she’s in for some good luck. I did giggle when at the end of the episode she was sat waiting for something lucky to happen, I don’t think even the dream itself meant that she’d be lucky sitting on her butt. More like she’d have to go to wherever it was that Makoto dreamt about or go swimming (as she’d just said she’d swam all the way there!)
Whilst Nao is sitting about waiting for her luck to hit Makoto and Kei pick some Bakke (fuki according to wiki) and Kei shows her how to cook it to make a snack. Chinatsu doesn’t like it and according to both Chinatsu and Nao liking it makes you a adult.
My favourite two parts of the episode was everyone, including his mums, reaction to Kei not having school supplies in his bag. He doesn’t seem to be that bothered, I’d really like to get to know Kei a lot more as right now he doesn’t really feel real. He doesn’t really have anything to him. We saw him cooking and Makoto pokes him about that but its all very text bookish. “Yeah I cook sometimes” before just once more going on about how he’s cooking it. There were some small flashes of a joke, or maybe not a joke we know nothing of Kei’s sexual preference I guess, but that’s it! You don’t know if he’s joking when he said he’d be popular with the guys or whether he wouldn’t mind that because its so deadpan and matter of fact.
My other favourite part was his interaction with Chinatsu, if anything that was the only part that felt human about him. Its a proper big brother, little sister relationship there.
The whole episode was just adorable.
Makoto’s lack of sense of direction makes me laugh! It was so funny when she was so happy that she’d found her way home that she went to write it in her diary just to walk off in the wrong direction instead! Makoto is a lovely character and I love her interactions with everyone. Its so innocent and sweet and you just love listening to her. Her voice actor (actress) has such a beautiful and soothing voice.
I do like the other characters. Chinatsu probably the best out of all of them. I think I enjoy seeing how she, as a little kid, reacts to things. It was so funny watching her calmly freak out about the Harbinger and then the Harbingers reaction! He was so confused and so sad that he was scaring someone. When he gave her that pot of flowers my heart just melted with happiness. The lovely thing about it is that you get to explore the world really through her eyes more then anyone else’s. The older kids just accept these things whilst Chinatsu kind of freaks out in her own little way.
Really love their mum too and want to see more of her.
Just honestly though… I’m in love with the Harbinger!
