NXT 30/3/16 Review

Seeing I’ll be reviewing Take Over Dallas  I thought it would make sense to first at least write about the last NXT episode. I have been keeping up with NXT in recent weeks but haven’t found the time to write about it.

Matches Quick Overlook :

American Alphas vs Corey Hollis / John Skylar

Baron Corbin vs Mike Cuellari

The Revival vs Tucker Knight / Steve Cutler

Apollo Crews vs Alex Riley

Samoa Joe vs Bull Dempsey
Winner : SAMOA JOE

American Alphas win by pin fall

If you ever saw me review NXT when I was reviewing NXT right at the beginning of American Alphas birth you’d know that I fell in love with Chad Gable before he’d even wrestled. I honestly just could see the chemistry with the two of them and knew that it would EXPLODE in the ring.

They have too.

The tag team division is the one thing I adore about NXT, as a big fan of tag team wrestling its always great to see the tag teams down there. As everything they are allowed to just be themselves so teams like American Alpha, Vaudevillains, Blake and Murphy and older teams like the Ascension just work. They aren’t questioned.

Going into their big tag championship match at Take Over this was just one last chance to show off what American Alpha can do. They look fantastic going into the match. At some point I should write about my feelings about whether I’d want them to join Angle if he ever joined WWE again or not but that is for some other time.

Well he’s ready for Joe. That is always a good thing. Nothing really important other then he’s ready for Joe.

Baron Corbin wins by pin fall

It was one of those Corbin squash matches to show his full power before probably having him lose to Austin Aries at Take Over. Not much to really say, the match was just a chance for the commentators to hype his Take Over match and tell us how much Corbin is meant to hate everything to do with the Indies.

The Revival win by pin fall

Pretty much the same as the first match. Gave the Revival a chance to show exactly what they are bringing to their title defence at Take Over.

I do love American Alpha but the Revival are a great in ring team. It worked to make me extremely excited for the match because their styles are going to work so well together and I can see their match stealing the show completely.

So Bull tells us that he’s bringing his A-Game to his match against Samoa Joe tonight which is sad. Because this Bull Fit gimmick as much as I liked it to begin with kind of killed him in NXT and its just sad.

Apollo Crews wins by pin fall

I thought he was coming back and they were going to do something big with him, Riley that is, but instead they fed him to Crews.

Not sure of the point of the match but also not sure of the point of bringing back Riley as this angry dude when he’s just going to start losing all the time.

After the match Sampson comes out to sing to Crews. Horrible song. Horrible gimmick. Man am I bored of Sampson.

Actually really liked his promo. Don’t usually like anything he does but this was really good. I feel they’ve really found his place and they need to keep it up with him.

Samoa Joe wins by submission

Final match for Dempsey and even though he got a few big moves in early on he ended up just being the punching bag to Joe who wouldn’t let up until Balor came down to stop him.

The whole match was a excuse to have one or the other in the ring and entice the other out. They did the whole “fighting so much that they had to be pulled apart” thing but it didn’t work for me. I just kind of skipped through it to see if anything interesting happened and then gave up and just turned off.

Tag matches were bloody brilliant, their match is going to be great at Take Over. Really hoping that the American Alphas get the title but I’ll have a prediction blog out tomorrow/today/whatever and talk about that more.

The singles matches were pretty boring. Corbin and Joe don’t really need to be in squash matches to show their dominance but we got it anyway.

Not too bad I guess. More excited for Take Over then I thought I would be but that had nothing to do with this episode of NXT which only really made me more excited for the tag team match.

Did I mention the tag team match is probably going to be amazing?
