365 Challenge : Happily Ever After

I think the concept of Happily Ever After is stupid.

Life would not be worth living if one event meant you lived a trouble free life from that point on.

Struggles in life is what makes us human. You learn from mistakes, you grow as a person, you meet people that you’d much rather not have but all these little things gives you a life worth living. Even with the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect partner and the best things happening that you could imagine something negative will happen at some point.

In fairy tales happily ever after is usually begun by marriage. In our times you see the amount of people who enter into these unions just to break it once again, you might be happy for a year, ten years even more but there can always be that day that breaks you.

Instead of waiting for a Happily Ever After moment you should strive to live for the moment. Something bad will always happen at some point but facing it all with a positive attitude instead of facing it with blind, childish belief that fairy tales are real is the way to live life.

Only a fool would believe they’ve hadΒ a “Happily Ever After” moment.

  1. I don’t talk to you for weeks and come back to this. What a ray of sunshine you are. Have you never heard of a romantic soul? Someone can face the troubles of the world and still believe they’ve found their Happily Ever After.

Sometimes I think you Brits are too cynical for your own good.

    1. I’m all for people wanting to believe whatever the hell they want to believe in but Happily Ever After is a silly concept that we shouldn’t teach children. Its why I liked Roald Dhal version of stories like when in Cinderella the Prince chops everyone’s heads off and stuff.

Its the same as anything. Prince Charmings, Damsals in Distress… All that shit is unhealthy to still be be taught to kids in this day and age.

Plus I’m not cynical I’m realistic.

Anyway one of the parts of the question was “what would it take for you to get there?” and the simple answer to that is you wouldn’t know till you died. The POINT of Happy Ever After is that you are HAPPY EVER AFTER. The good shit starts AFTER THIS POINT but a human living in the real world would never know because until you are dead you don’t know how long something will last happily until something comes to fuck it all up.
