Also known as Erased this really was a interesting one.
The whole episode long I had this horrible feeling of unease.
Truly I never really settled. It kind of felt like three or four different sorts of story all wrapped into one until the very end when it all become clear, and boy did I love it when it did.
We followed Fujinuma, a strange guy who, just before a accident, will be taken back a little in time so he can prevent it. During the first part of the anime I thought that was it, we’ll get to see him preventing some horrible things and having the butterfly effect of something bad happening somewhere else. Also seeing that he was difficult I thought that his mum and the girl he works with would have softened him and made him more human.
Of course I didn’t expect that ending.
After being reminded of a kidnapping when he was a kid and how the parents had tried to make the kids forget and how a lonely older guy had been arrested and was on death row for the kidnapping we finally get to the point. His mum is one step ahead and ends up dead for her trouble which sends him back to 1988 as a child.
It was a great ending to the first episode and that unsettled feeling I had the whole time just made my stomach do a backflip with that ending. I could see the people blaming him for the murder of his mum coming a million miles away but it was nice that it was short lived.
His mum was by far my favourite character. At first I hated her but by the end there was just something about her that made me want to know more. She seemed slightly aloof about everything and yet there was something so much more buried in her character. I didn’t like her lips though. I know its a strange thing but it just distracted me a lot looking at her. I kinda wish they hadn’t.
From the moment the anime started to the end I was hooked. The style and the word use was just amazing. Everything about it made me shiver. Just how dark and dirty it looked made you know something bigger and worse was coming.
It’ll be interesting to see where it goes from here. His biggest regret seems to be that he didn’t ask the little girl that got abducted to walk home with him so I’m guessing he’s going to do that but that doesn’t mean that someone else won’t get abducted. In fact it isn’t going to stop a abduction full stop so I can’t wait to see what happens next.
