NXT Take Over London

I haven’t watched NXT for months! I was so happy to see the Vaudevillains win the tag team championship and then suddenly I stopped watching, never saw them as champions and the longer I wasn’t watching the harder it was to get back into.

So I am back for NXT Take Over London.

Matches Quick Overlook :

Asuka vs Emma
Winner : ASUKA

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs Dawson & Wilder (c)

Baron Corbin vs Apollo Crews

Nia Jax vs Bayley (c)
Winner : BAYLEY

Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor (c)

Asuka vs Emma
Asuka wins by pin fall

Well I like Emma and I have been tempted to watch NXT just to see Asuka but just haven’t had the time.

Instantly just with her entrance I loved Asuka and the way she moves in the ring.

It wasn’t really like either of them dominated for long. I loved the opening exchange which flowed so well, the hip attack off the ring apron to Emma from Asuka was brilliant and a very good distraction from Dana on the outside.

I enjoyed the match but I just loved how in control Emma looked all the time. Even when she was down you believed she could take out Asuka again easily with one move. She looked dominant and her clothesline, the slap… Everything she did just looked violent and looked like it would hurt. Asuka’s kicks were brilliant and I loved the energy she had.

Ending was pretty good too. Kind of felt it was a shame that Emma didn’t win but then there was too much attempting to cheat at the end which kind of bogged everything down.

Good opening match though. I’ll possibly have to watch NXT just for the women!

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs Dawson & Wilder (c)
Dawson & Wilder win by pin fall

Now these two are two guys I’ve missed. Plus of course the always wonderful and beautiful Carmella. The crowd were completely behind Enzo and Cass, I mean lets face it you might not understand a word that he’s spewing but them two are just so infectious. Whatever it was that Enzo was wearing was a eye sore but at the same time it just suited him so well.

Cass and Enzo dominated the opening segment, there was a very nasty moment were Wilder went to hit Enzo who ducked and he hit the ring post. I mean it just looked painful. Nothing the champs could do stopped the momentum of possibly the most beloved tag team in NXT. Or at least to the NXT London crowd. I loved the air Enzo over the top rope, boy does Enzo fly when he’s chucked by Cass.

Have to say when I stopped watching NXT Dawson and Wilder were two guys I said were going to be big but in this match truly Enzo and Cass could have been fighting thin air and I think the crowd, and myself, would have still loved it. Glued to the TV and still Dawson and Wilder didn’t make a real big impact. When they separated Enzo from Cass and focused on his arm I spent more time just chanting along with the crowd then I did paying any attention to who was beating up on Enzo.

When the hot tag came for Cass he looked very much like he could single handedly win the match before the champions focused on the knee they injured. The thing I really didn’t like about this was that it was exactly what had just happened to Enzo for a good 5 minutes (or at least it felt like 5 minutes) and really made me a big depressed for the champions who only seemed able to lock in submissions and be uninspiring in the face of a whole load of Enzo/Cass chants.

Unfortunately they kept the title but not before one of them got a elbow in the face from the beautiful Queen Carmella.

Seriously though them two were very boring.

Baron Corbin vs Apollo Crews
Baron Corbin wins by pin fall

This is how long I haven’t watched it, the last show I saw was Apollo’s debut match, where I fell in love with him. Nothing so far has made me like Baron Corbin even a little bit. Hopefully this’ll change my opinion on him.

It was much better then I thought it would be. Crews obviously didn’t just get beat down though the middle was dominated more by Corbin then Crews. The crowd were my most favourite part of the match though I hardly could make out what they were chanting. They were so loud though!

Seeing I’ve missed a lot it was nice to see Baron Corbin actually wrestle. Apollo Crews has just gotten better since I saw him all those months ago, and at least he put up a fight. Still not as impressed as the rest of the world seems to be with Corbin but more impressed then I was last time I saw him.

Nia Jax vs Bayley (c)
Bayley won by submission

I….. Think I’m in love. Nia Jax just throwing Bayley around like a rag doll is something else.

The whole story was Bayley having the heart of a champion and not going to let the size or strength of her opponent make her lose belief in her talents. It was all about her finding any window of opportunity she can to find a weak point in Jax’s armour.

It made a interesting match. Some great moves from Bayley as she did everything she could to find that gap. The three or four leg drops (one to the arm and then three to her back) looked horrid and seeing her kick out and then crawl up the corner was pretty sad. Thing is by that time, for me, I’ve never seen anything from Bayley that would make me believe she could really get one over on Jax. The two  or three Guillotines really honestly ruined it all for me a little. The first one Jax was on her feet and completely in control of where she would be, the second I just shock my head and went scrolling through twitter, the third after a prolonged sitting about period just made me give up.

I dunno, I just think they could have done something better then that. I like Bayley but sometimes I just feel when she does win the ending is pretty weak.

Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor (c)
Finn Balor wins by pin fall

Soooo…. Has Joe been more interesting then when he debuted? Ya know because I don’t care what anyone says he was so boring. It wasn’t Killer Joe like everyone was going on about it was a half assed Joe.

The answer was obviously yes. Yes he has.

Match was the best of the night hands down. Joe looked like he was going to kill Finn, though I do think he’s slowed down quite a bit even from the last time I saw him. Finn looked like he had to up his game and he did. There were some really good moments and to be honest you just didn’t want to look away because you knew you were going to miss something if you did.

Possibly the match that makes me keep up to date with NXT again because that was one hell of a showing from Balor and Joe.

My Thoughts :

I might not have said much about the main event but it was one of the best matches I’ve seen all year. In the top 5 for sure. The whole night was pretty awesome, personally I still don’t get a lot of the hype but different tastes and all that.

Loved Nia Jax even if I didn’t like the ending of the match, the fact that they did a similar story better just one match later kind of made it worse. Asuka I like but I just can’t help but love Emma.

I don’t really have the time right now to go into more detail then that but it was a great evening jam packed with great matches.

  1. Ok so seeing you said ant questions leave here. ..

More opinions on Jax and Asuka.

What do you think is holding you backing liking Corbin?

Your opinion on the tag champs and do you think they should’ve kept those belts?

    1. I really like Jax. I like that she’s completely different to all other Divas, I like her style in the ring and it’s why I didn’t like the end of the match. It reminded me a lot of Kong/Kim matches which always had much stronger finishes for Gail Kim when she won. I like Bayley but she’s not as good as people say and has a lot of work to do.

Asuka was OK I don’t think it’s fair to say anything about her in that match as she was always on the back foot. Will be watching NXT purely for the Asuka/Jax feud they teased us with. I like her personality though and the way she moves in the ring but I love Emma so….

His whole gimmick? It doesn’t work. It’s like Reigns. Doing the same thing constantly and hoping people will suddenly like it. The whole gimmick is just terrible and he doesn’t really have the right look. In ring when he gets going he ain’t too bad but I haven’t seen too many long matches with him. Wrong person to do the short matches with in the beginning and Apollo should have had a bigger fight back. I’d like to see them change him up a little. Inject a bit of personality.

I liked them before I stopped watching but in a “in a year or so they’ll be really good” but then I saw this match and they might as well not have been there. Gonna have to do a catch up to find out what happened in the tag team divison. For that match alone I’d say no. No they didn’t deserve to keep the titles. It was a ok Match and much more interesting because of the energy the crowd had. The tag teams were the one part of NXT I loved so will have to wait and see.
