I have only just this moment noticed my Monaco preview was titled as a review… It confused me so much trying to find the preview to remember how I structured it and not being able to find it! So I apologise belatedly for that!
Now the focus is on the return of Austria!
The Austrian GP, better known as Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Österreich is held at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Styria.
Now isn’t that a mouthful?
The last time the race was held in 2003 and was won by Formula One legend Michael Schumacher. He still holds the lap record of 1:08.337 which he recorded back in 2003.
I’m trying to remember Austria, I remember vaguely that I always liked the circuit and it was always one that I wanted to come back but I can’t really remember much about it beyond that!
Therefore it is very hard to write a review that focuses on the track, a track which I really remember little of (sorry but I can hardly remember what happened last week let alone over a decade ago!)
The first time the race was held was all the way back in 1964 and no doubt one big reason it is returning after its disappearance is the success of Red Bull Racing.
Can Red Bull come out in front after 71 laps?
Well so far I wouldn’t say it is impossible, especially for Daniel Ricciardo who got his first taste of a win in the last race and will be hoping to do it once more. Canada is known for some “off” results, and to be honest I don’t know what happened in Canada. I never got the chance to watch it!
I guess the on track fight between the Mercedes will still be the most exciting thing to watch!
Tom Kristensen is going to be our driver steward and hopefully we’ll have some very fun memories of this race going forward (I do kind of remember a little bit races from 12 months before… With a little help from online articles to remember what happened!)
